Emma-Kate is a professional triathlete who specialises in Ironman 70.3 triathlon. She is a three-time Ironman 70.3 champion, having won 70.3 Mallorca, 70.3 UK and 70.3 Augusta in 2011. Prior to this, she won TriStar Nevis 111 in April and achieved a top-10 finish in her long course debut at the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon in March. In 2010, she was one of five British women to finish in the top 10 at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida. She also achieved top-three finishes at 70.3 UK and 70.3 Antwerp and is widely regarded as an up and coming talent with a bright future in triathlon. After taking up the sport in 2005, Emma-Kate raced as an age grouper until 2009. During this time she won medals at the World Age Group Championships in Hamburg in 2007 and Vancouver in 2008 as well as the European Age Group overall title in 2008. She has a first class honours degree in English and Sports Science from Loughborough University and a post-graduate diploma in journalism from Cardiff University. She is a qualified, experienced journalist who continues to write for magazines and websites in the UK and the US. |
